Range of Properties:
- A gîte is a traditional house that is usually typical to the particular region of France where it is situated. This type of property offers a homely atmosphere for independent holidays, and can be a range of buildings from small cottages to larger farmhouses. Gîtes are usually located in rural areas and are therefore ideal for exploring the best of rural France. There is a great selection of traditional properties in 7 destinations across western and southern France, and Corsica.
- The Spanish word ‘finca’ is most commonly translated into English to mean ‘farm’. The term usually refers to a converted rural farmhouse, or cottage found in Spain. These buildings are often made from local stone, and are mainly set amid tranquil countryside away from the coast and main tourist towns. A finca is the perfect choice if you wish to get a glimpse of the traditional Spanish lifestyle. You will find a good selection of fincas located in various destinations on the Spanish mainland.
- You will find several wonderfully-restored examples of Mas houses within Provence. Typical of this region of France, a mas is a large farmhouse constructed of attractive local stone. The building is usually a rectangular shape and is south facing. This type of house was originally run by a farmer as a self-sufficient unit, producing fruit, vegetables and grain, amongst other foods. A mas is usually a large building with two storeys, but the size depends on the wealth of the original owners, and the size of their families.
- Menorcan farmhouses are large and typical buildings are to be found scattered throughout Menorca’s beautiful and unspoilt countryside – and can be several hundred years old. Many of these whitewashed stone farmhouses have been converted to provide spacious and traditional accommodation, and many are set amid spacious grounds. Here you can enjoy peace and tranquillity whilst also enjoying the fact that on Menorca, you are never more than a short drive away from one of the quaint resort towns.
