Property for Sale in Romania
Currently, foreigners may directly own buildings but they may not directly own land. However, it is an accepted and common practice on the Romanian real estate market for foreigners to own land indirectly through legal entities incorporated in Romania, even if such entities are wholly owned by a foreign entity or individual.
Romania's capital is Bucharest. Romania joined NATO in 2004, and the European Union (EU) on January 1, 2007.
European Accession for Romania is set for 2007 and based on previous examples property is tipped to rise by up to 50%. Laws have previously caused difficulties for foreigners from owning property in Romania but in line with EU policy, this will soon be changed.
EU accession is promoting foreign investment in construction and infrastructure, making Romania one of the Worlds most attractive emerging property markets.
Air fares to Romania are inexpensive and this combined with affordable hotels and sundry costs such as travel, eating out and generally enjoying oneself make the country a low cost holiday option.
