El Chorro is one of the most famous rock climbing areas in the whole of Europe, with some 500+ climbing routes to choose from enthusiasts from all around the world descend on this area regularly every winter. Other activities here include hiking, mountain biking, fishing, horse riding, photography, geology, and painting, while across at the Vale de Abdalajis, the paragliding fraternity recognize this part of Inland Andalucia as being one of the best places in the World for their sport.
Famous for the three artificial turquoise coloured lakes that were created when the dam was built across the Guadalhorce river gorge, this spectacular 200 metre high gorge known as the Garganta del Chorro regularly has eagles soaring high above the cliffs.
