North West England comprises of five counties of England – Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, and Cheshire which have varied landscapes ranging from beaches to lakes and forests to cities.
North West England is bounded on the west by the Irish Sea and on the east by The Pennines mountain range. The region extends from the Scottish Borders in the north to the Welsh Mountains in the south.
The primary international airport in the region is Manchester Airport which has 3 terminals and serve destinations worldwide. The regions second largest, but fastest growing airport is Liverpool John Lennon and serves destinations primarily in the UK and Europe and is a major hub for EasyJet and Ryanair.

The North West shows a wide diversity in people and dialect: the most common dialects in the region are Scouse (from Liverpool), Lancastrian, Mancunian (also known as Manc) and the Cumberland dialect (Cumbria). Most visitors will be hard-pressed to notice significant differences between the dialects but there are many to the trained ear. The people are generally friendly and do welcome tourists. Blackpool is a seaside resort town in the North West of England. Over 6 million people visit Blackpool each year, making it Britain's number one holiday resort. Many come for the two largest attractions, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Blackpool Tower, although the town features many other smaller attractions including three piers, numerous amusement arcades, seven miles of beaches and pedestrian promenade, and a vibrant nightlife. |
Liverpool is a city with great cultural heritage and was awarded the title of European Capital of Culture 2008, with the famous Pier Head Waterfront being a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004. Liverpool is home to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and is also renowned for being the birthplace of a wide range of popular musicians including The Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Echo & the Bunnymen and many more.
Lake District National Park is in the north west of England in the county of Cumbria. It is the largest National Park in the country and is considered one of its most scenic regions and England's premier destination for hiking and climbing.
