Holidays in the Greek Island of Skiathos
Hotels in Skiathos, Greece
Skiathos is the westernmost island in the Sporades group of islands in the Aegean Sea.
Skiathos has approximately 70 beaches, including one nudist beach at the south end of the island, in a resort called Banana. The south side of the island has sandy beaches with calm waters. Beaches on the north are less crowded. The wind mostly comes in from the north and also the sea tends to be somewhat rougher to the north.
Most of the island consists of dense Pine Forests in the southeastern part of the island.
The Greek island of Skiathos is very popular and can get really crowded during July and August by people attracted by the wonderful long and golden sandy beaches of the island which are boarded by trees and have crystal-clear waters.
The island of Skiathos in Greece only has one main city. The rest of the island is full of huge hotel complexes, apartments and studios units and summer beach resorts.
Summer holidays to Skiathos are perfect and you'll find a great mix of the cosmopolitan and sleepy traditional villages. Skiathos Town has a chic air to it – designer shops, yachts moored at the harbour and plenty of places to dance the night away. But in stark contrast to this you'll also find sleepy villages during your Skiathos holiday that seem untouched by modern life. Beautiful countryside and a warm welcome await you here for a quiet Skiathos break.
