Playa Martiánez (one of 2 Puerto Cruz Beaches) is right in the centre of the tourist area in Puerto de la Cruz between the Martiánez cliffs and the space occupied by the Complejo del Lago. A beach of exotic black volcanic sand which in its location next to the Martiánez Complex is protected from the waves by a breakwater, while the part closest to the cliffs is suitable for surfing, with a range of championships being held here taking advantage of the rough conditions that arise on occasions.
