Castell-Platja d'Aro is a large holiday resort in the middle of the Costa Brava. It is formed from two parts: Castell d'Aro is the ancient village 3 km inland build around a medieval castle and fortified church on the road form Platja d'Aro to Santa Cristina d'Aro. Platja d'Aro was originally a small fishing village on the road from Palamós to Sant Feliu de Guíxols located on a large 2 km beach. It is now a major resort popular predominantly with Catalans or villa owning Northern Europeans.
The outskirts include a number of urbanisations including Mas Nou which offers spectacular views over the coast and a championship golf course.
The variety of nightlife and leisure opportunities and the quality of our tourist facilities are just some of the main attractions of Platja d'Aro, Castell d'Aro and S'Agaró. All of these can be enjoyed all year long, and have made us one the main destinations of the Costa Brava, and one of the most popular of the whole of the Mediterranean.
The 3 attractive towns compliment each other perfectly, and combine sport, culture, leisure and business in a natural setting, centred on the delightful seafront, with its impressive, endless beach and idyllic little bays.
Platja d'Aro remains full of life all year round, with a complete programme of events and festivals, such as Carnival, the Beer Festival and the Medieval Market in Castell d'Aro.
The town of Castell – Platja d'Aro i S'Agaró offers a wide selection of tourist services, high quality shopping, cafeterias, restaurants and hotels; a famous night-life with a multitude of pubs and discotheques; and a wide range of entertainment with theme and aquatic parks and cinemas.
