The Costa del Sol has restaurants and specialist bars from every corner of the world. Whether your budget is small or large, you can find great food to suit all tastes. For the authentic taste of the Mediterranean, head for a 'Chiringuito' (beach bar/restaurant) and enjoy fresh locally caught fish and seafood served on the beach.
If you are exploring the scenic countryside, why not choose from one of the inland 'Ventas' specialising in wholesome regional cuisine. These country restaurants are cheap and diners can even enjoy the 'Menu del dia' (Menu of the day) where you can feast on a 3 course meal (from a set menu) and includes a cool cervesa (Beer) or glass of wine or even a soft drink for those driving.
Malaga
In Malaga head for Plaza Mayor (a giant leisure and entertainment complex near the airport). With an astounding choice of over 70 bars, restaurants, and cafes, Plaza Mayor caters for all tastes. Restaurants in Plaza Mayor include Fast Foods, Italian, Mexican, Asian and even Antonio Bandaras' own restaurant. There is also a Casino Bar and Cinema showing films in Spanish and English.
Malaga Central offers a fabulous selection of restaurants and bars in a maze of narrow Old Town streets near the cathedral or in the Malaguenta district close to the bullring.
Alhaurin de la Torre
Alhaurin de la Torre situated just inside the Guadalhorce Valley is a great alternative to the more expensive coastal restaurants. Located just 8 minutes away from the med, Alhaurin de la Torre has some of the best restaurants, but at inland prices. The variety of restaurants in Alhaurin de la Torre is quite amazing, whether you are looking for Spanish, Indian, Chinese, Italian, or even Lebonese or Thai, Alhaurin de la Torre has something for everyone.
Torremolinos
Torremolinos has dozens of eateries catering for all tastes and budgets, on the La Carihuela promenade and the trendy bars on Calle San Miguel. If you are looking for a substantial start to the day while on Holiday, try one of the many English Bars and Cafes which offer a full English Breakfast.
Benalmadena
Don't miss the award-winning Puerto Marina Harbour with a vast selection of restaurants, designer shops and cafes. Plaza Sol y Mar (24 Hour Square) offers a great range of nightclubs, and late night bars to satify the party goers. Torrequebrada Casino is a fabulous place to see a live show or place a few bets. Moonlight Bar in the Sunset Beach Club offers live music and entertainment to all. Of course, in Benalmadena there is a huge selection of expat bars with Karaoke, Live Shows and Bingo.
Fuengirola
You'll be superbly catered for in 'Fish Alley' at the heart of the Old Town and in the surrounding streets; while other areas well known for their bars, nightspots and eateries include the Paseo Maritimo (seafront) and the Port, with its wide choice of inexpensive establishments.
Mijas
Both the Pueblo and Mijas Costa is famed for the quality of its many gastronomic restaurants and the inexpensive eateries and late night bars. The Sol y Sombra specialises in Jacket Potatoes and other snack foods in the Miraflores region of Mijas Costa. The tiny port of Cabopino has a good choice of waterfront restaurants too.
Marbella
Puerto Banus and Nueva Andalucia are legendary for sophisticated wining, dining and dancing the night away. The favorite haunts of the international celebrities, prices tend to be higher than elsewhere on the Costa del Sol, but quality and service are world-class. In Marbella, the Old Town (Casco Antiguo) with Orange Square at its heart, is synonymous with chic dining, as is the Golden Mile. The seafront is an attractive but more economical alternative. Puerto Banus while featuring the ultimate in exclusive dining, also has plenty of fast-food and American style establishments.
