Ferias in Benalmádena
Spain wouldn’t be Spain without the Ferias and Fiestas and Benalmadena loves a good party. With the normal Christmas and Easter celebrations, Benalmadena also celebrates the Festival of San Juan on the night of 23rd June. With Benalmádena’s seaside location, the party is concentrated on the beach. Bonfires and Barbeques are lit, music of all kinds try to outdo each other and at the stroke of midnight, Fireworks adorn the sky, people jump over fires and everyone goes into the sea to make wishes for the coming year. This is also the only time of year that camping on the beaches is permitted as the party goes on till dawn.
The towns Feria is held on the fiesta of Virgen de la Cruz, (Virgin of the Cross) during mid-august. The people of Benalmádena fill the Feria ground, local squares and plazas and dance the week away in a wonderful carnival atmosphere.
Benalmadena has many tourist attractions for holiday makers to enjoy.
Benalmadena Puerto Marina: This marina is one of the best in the world and has over 1,100 berths. Puerto Marina is one of the focal points in Benalmadena with designer shops, fabulous restaurants, numerous bars, private apartments and luxurious hotels. Holiday makers can hire yachts, enjoy feeding the fish, or be entertained on the Mississippi Willow paddle steamer.
Selwo Marina: Selwo Marina in Benalmadena covers a large site with various well-presented shows and exhibition areas featuring dolphins, sea lions, penguins, and parrot displays and offers an excellent day-out for all the family. Selwo Marina is an excellent day out, but please check the show times before you get your tickets. Opening hours are from 10am and closing will depend on the season. Prices are 9 Euros for an Adult and 6 Euros for Children aged between 3-7 and 6 Euros for Seniors.
Tivoli World: You'll find a lot of good reasons to visit Tivoli World, having the experience to enjoy a fantastic day in a unique spot on the Costa del Sol. A world of magic and a visit the whole family will enjoy. Rides include Children's Roller Coasters, Swing Boats, Go Karts, Bumper Boats, Mini F1 and more. Prices at Tivoli World are from 4 Euros.
Teleferico cable car Benalmadena (Benalmádena Aerial Cable Car): also known as the “telecabina”. The embarkment point of the Cable Car is next to Tivoli World in Arroyo de la Miel. The Cable Car travels more than 2,600 metres and takes about fifteen minutes. From the top of the Mount Calamorro, you can enjoy exceptional views of the Costa del Sol and on a clear day the African Coastline can be seen.
At the top visitors can also enjoy a falconary exhibition, a Spanish dressage school where you can see expert horse riding or marked walking paths for the more active. Prices for return trip is from 9,25 Euros
24 Hour Square: For the younger holiday makers or just the young at heart, 24 hour square is wall to wall nightclubs and bars aimed at the partying youngsters. As the name suggests, the Square is open 24 hours a day and for those who like to party hard, this is the perfect place.
The Torrequebrada Golf Course was opened in 1976 and is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
The 18 holes of Golf Torrequebrada are situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains, rich in tropical vegatation and birds. With the large number of lakes and strategically placed bunkers, every hole is a different experience for the player.
